The present invention describes a new aliphatic polyoxaesters that is bioabsorbable and may be used to produce surgical devices such as sutures, sutures with attached needles, molded devices, and the like. The invention also contemplates a process for producing these polyesters. The aliphatic polyoxaesters of the present invention have a first divalent repeating unit of formula I: [O-C(O)-C(R1)(R2)-O-(R3)-O-C(R1)(R2)-C(O)-] I and a second repeating unit selected from the group of formulas consisting of: [-O-R4-]A, II ([-O-R5-C(O)-]B, and III ([-O-R5-C(O)]p-O-)LG XI and combinations thereof.

La présente invention décrit de nouveaux polyoxaesters aliphatiques qui sont bioabsorbables et qui peuvent être utilisés dans la fabrication de matériels chirurgicaux comme le fil, les ensembles fil-aiguille, des dispositifs moulés et autres. L'invention concerne également un procédé pour produire ces polyesters. Les polyoxaesters aliphatiques de la présente invention ont un premier motif divalent de formule I : [O-C(O)-C(R1)(R2)-O-(R3)-O-C(R1)(R2)-C(O)-] I et un second motif choisi parmi un groupe correspondant aux formules suivantes : [-O-R4-]A, II ([-O-R5-C(O)-]B, et III ([-O-R5-C(O)]p-O-)LG XI et à des combinaisons de ces dernières.
