An absorbent article such as a sanitary napkin, pantiliner, or incontinence pad is provided. The absorbent article is asymmetrically- shaped and has an enlarged end (30) which fits closely to the rear of the wearer's body. The absorbent article is also provided with embossed channels (36) to assist the absorbent article in assuming body-conforming configurations in use, such as an inverted V-shaped configuration of the enlarged end and a convex upward configuration of the central region.
