An absorbent article is described in which a non-water-absorbent substrate is coated on at least one side with a second layer comprising a water-absorbent composition. The water-absorbent layer may be applied as a preformed polymeric material or as a syrup which may be cured in situ to form the water-absorbent material.

On décrit un article absorbant dans lequel un substrat n'absorbant pas l'eau est revêtu, sur au moins un côté, d'une seconde couche comprenant une composition absorbant l'eau. On peut appliquer cette couche absorbant l'eau en tant que matériau polymère préformé ou en tant que sirop pouvant durcir in situ afin de former le matériau absorbant l'eau.
