The present invention relates to absorbent articles such as sanitary napkins and panty liners which are breathable by the incorporation of a breathable backsheet therein, and have a reduced tendency to exhibit garment wet through. The breathable backsheets comprise at least one moisture vapour permeable, apertured layer selected from wovens or apertured films comprising a nonsoluble, liquid swellable material such as polyvinyl alcohol, which upon contact with the fluid discharge the material swells. This causes the apertures of the layer to close and hence prevents the passage of liquid through the backsheet onto the garment of the wearer.
La présente invention a trait à des articles absorbants tels que des serviettes hygiéniques et des protège-slips, qui sont rendus respirants par l'incorporation d'une feuille inférieure respirante, et qui présentent une tendance réduite à mouiller les vêtements de l'utilisateur. Les feuilles inférieures respirantes comportent au moins une couche perforée perméable à l'humidité, sélectionnée dans le groupe constitué par des films tissés ou perforés comportant une matière non soluble qui peut gonfler au contact de liquides, tel l'alcool de polyvinyle. Cette matière réagit au contact d'un apport de fluide en gonflant, ce qui provoque la fermeture des perforations de la couche, et permet ainsi d'empêcher que les liquides ne passent à travers la feuille inférieure sur les vêtements de l'utilisateur.
