The present invention relates to absorbent articles such as sanitary napkins and panty liners which are breathable by the incorporation of a breathable backsheet and have a reduced tendency to exhibit garment wet through. The backsheet comprises at least one vapour permeable apertured layer comprising a non soluble, liquid shrinkable material such as polyvinyl alcohol. Upon contact with the fluid discharge the material shrinks thereby causing the apertures of the layer to close and hence prevent the passage of liquid through the backsheet onto the garment of the wearer.
L'invention concerne des articles absorbants, par exemple des serviettes hygiéniques et des protège-slips, qui sont respirants car ils comportent une feuille postérieure respirante et présentent, une fois humides, une faible tendance à mouiller les vêtements de l'utilisateur. Cette feuille postérieure comprend au moins une couche ajourée perméable à la vapeur, constituée d'un matériau non soluble, par exemple d'alcool de polyvinyle, rétrécissant au contact d'un liquide. Lorsque le matériau rétrécit au contact du liquide, les ouvertures de ladite couche ajourée se ferment, ce qui empêche le passage du liquide à travers la feuille postérieure et par conséquent vers le vêtement de l'utilisateur.
