Absorbent gelling materials are prepared by cross-linking polyaspartate units. The cross-linked homopolymers exhibit improved gel volumes, gel strengths and extractable material characteristics. Using diamine cross-linkers in an amount of 2.5 - 30 percent by weight, the blue-dextran saline gel volumes of at least 15 can be obtained. Similarly, gel strengths of 300 N/m2 or better, including gel strengths above 3000 N/m2, can be obtained. The resulting product is susceptible of a variety of uses, is biodegradable, and can be prepared in a particle size suitable for use in a diaper.
La réticulation d'unités de polyaspartate permet de préparer des gélifiants absorbants. Les homopolymères réticulés présentent des caractéristiques améliorées quant au volume de gel, à la force du gel et à la matière extractible. L'utilisation comme réticulants de diamines à raison de 2,5 % à 30 % en poids permet d'obtenir des volumes de gel salin d'au moins 15 mesuré au dextrane bleu. De la même façon, il est possible d'obtenir des forces du gel de 300 N/m?2¿ ou mieux, y compris des forces du gel dépassant 3000 N/m?2¿. Le produit résultant, qui peut s'utiliser de nombreuses manières, est biodégradable et peut se préparer selon une grosseur de particule adaptée aux couches.
