The invention provides media for absorption of phosphate and metal contaminants from a hydrocarbon stream and a method of making such media. The media comprise alumina with relatively minor amounts of calcia and magnesia and are made by a process in which the minor components or precursors of such components are dispersed in a gelled sol of a hydrated alumina such as boehmite.

Cette invention concerne des matériaux qui permettent d'absorber les contaminants à base de phosphates et de métaux présents dans un flux d'hydrocarbures ainsi qu'un procédé de fabrication de tels matériaux. Ces matériaux, qui sont constitués par de l'alumine avec des quantités relativement faibles de calcium et de magnésium, s'obtiennent en dispersant les composants présents en faibles doses ou leurs précurseurs dans un sol gélifié d'alumine hydraté tel que de la boehmite.
