Vaccines based on combinations of majorly abundant extracellular products of pathogens and methods for their use and production are presented. The most prevalent of majorly abundant extracellular products of a target pathogen are selected irrespective of their absolute molecular immunogenicity and used as vaccines to stimulate a protective immune response in mammalian hosts against subsequent infection by the target pathogen. The majorly abundant extracellular products may be characterized and distinguished by their respective N-terminal amino acid sequences. As the vaccines may comprise different combinations of the extracellular products, a broad range effective immunotherapeutic compositions are provided bythe present invention. In addition to other infectious agents, the vaccines so produced can be used to stimulate an effective immune response against intracellular pathogens and in particular Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
L'invention a pour objet des vaccins à base de produits d'agents pathogènes extracellulaires en majorité abondants, leurs procédés de fabrication et leur utilisation. Les produits extracellulaires les plus répandus ou en majorité abondants d'un agent pathogène cible sont sélectionnés indépendamment de leur immunogénicité moléculaire absolue et utilisés comme vaccins pour stimuler une réponse immunitaire protectrice chez des hôtes mammifères contre une infection consécutive à l'agent pathogène cible. On peut caractériser et distinguer des produits extracellulaires à majorité abondants par leurs séquences respectives d'acides aminés à extrémité N-terminale. Les vaccins pouvant comporter différentes combinaisons de produits extracellulaires, l'invention concerne des compositions immunothérapeutiques à large spectre d'efficacité. Les vaccins ainsi obtenus peuvent être utilisés non seulement contre d'autres agents infectieux mais aussi pour stimuler une réponse immunitaire efficace contre les agents pathogènes intracellulaires et en particulier contre le bacille de Koch.
