An AC power factor conditioning circuit consists of a circuit with AC power lines (12, 14) each having a path to neutral. A first path (36) from line (12) has a choke (28) cou- pled in series with a capacitor (38). The second path (48) has a second choke (30) coupled in series to a capacitor (50). The choke (28) includes a first coil portion (32) wrapped around a ferromagnetic core (26), and a portion of second path (48) while the second coil portion (34) is wrapped around a portion of the second path (48). The second choke (30) has a similar arrangement The chokes (28, 30) connect- ed to power lines (12, 14) act to balance inductive loads e.g. those caused by heavy motors and fluorescent lights. Tran- sient suppressors such as varistors (18, 20, 22, 24, 56, 58) are used for transient suppression.
