A self-contained, plug-in, hand-held device for testing the current carrying ability of the Hot wire (12) and the Safety Ground return (CC) of standard AC outlets (18) which have Hot connection (12), Neutral connection (16) and Ground connection (14). The test circuit device also detects common miswires and open connections in the AC outlet (18) being tested by way of flashing lights (D2, D4, D6) built into the tester circuit device. If the AC outlet (18) is wired correctly and the total resistance of the Hot line (10) and Safety Ground (CC) are below a predetermined limit, only one light "Green" light (D4) meaning "OK" will flash, which use of only one light to indicate everything is properly wired makes the device easy to use even by a user with little knowledge of electrical testing devices and procedures. Various other detection conditions and indications of occurrence are afforded.
La présente invention concerne un appareil à main indépendant et enfichable destiné à contrôler la capacité de transport de courant du conducteur de phase (12) et du conducteur de terre (CC) à courant alternatif ayant des connexions de phase (12), de neutre (16) et de terre (14). Cet appareil détecte aussi les erreurs de câblage communes et les connexions interrompues dans la prise de courant (18) qui est en cours de contrôle, par l'allumage des voyants incorporés. Si le câblage est correct et que la résistance totale de la phase (10) et de la terre (CC) soit inférieure à une limite déterminée, un seul voyant vert (D4) signifiant "Tout va bien" s'allume. Cet emploi d'un seul voyant pour indiquer que tout est correctement câblé rend l'appareil facile à utiliser même par une personne connaissant peu les appareils électriques de contrôle et les procédures correspondantes. L'invention concerne aussi différentes autres conditions de détection et indications de l'état de la prise de courant.
