A firefighting monitor having an acceleration sensitive shut off valve that responds to acceleration of the monitor to reduce water flow through the monitor. The acceleration sensitive shut off valve is self-contained and requires no contact with an external surface or device. The valve closing speed may be modulated by a dampener device that slows the rate at which the valve closes to avoid damage from water hammer.

Moniteur de lutte contre l'incendie possédant une vanne d'arrêt sensible à l'accélération réagissant à l'accélération du moniteur afin de limiter l'écoulement de l'eau à travers le moniteur. Cette vanne d'arrêt est autonome et ne nécessite aucun contact avec une surface extérieure ou dispositif externe. La vitesse de fermeture de la vanne peut être modulée par un dispositif d'amortissement ralentissant la vitesse de fermeture de la vanne, de manière à éviter tout risque de détérioration provoqué par un effet de coup de bélier.
