The system and method of the present invention provides the support of high density removable media (84), such as CD-ROM or MO, tobe used as distributed media for storing data where access thereto is securely restricted. Through this system and method, the secure periodic distribution of several different sets of data information (78) to the end user is achieved with access control selectively performed by at the user's site through communication with the billing/access center (81 & 82). User billing is based on the purchase of the decryption access codes (81 & 82) as indicated by the access code attributes encoded on the media (84). Access code availability if further controlled by selectively providing for updates of decryption access codes.
Le système et le procédé selon cette invention assurent l'accès à des supports amovibles haute densité (84) tels que des DOC ou des DMO, destinés à être utilisés comme supports distribués pour stocker des données dont l'accès est limité de manière sûre. Grâce à ce système et ce procédé, la distribution périodique sûre de plusieurs ensembles différents de données (78) destinés à l'utilisateur final s'effectue au moyen d'une commande d'accès qui est sélectivement exécutée à l'endroit où se situe l'utilisateur par l'intermédiaire d'une communication avec le centre de facturation/d'accès (81 & 82). La facturation destinée à l'utilisateur est fondée sur l'achat des codes d'accès de décryptage (81 & 82) conformément aux indications des attributs des codes d'accès codés sur le support (84). La disponibilité des codes d'accès est mieux maîtrisée grâce à un système sélectif de mise à jour des codes d'accès de décryptage.
