ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The cover is of the kind in which a removable cover member fits within an outer surrounding frame, the cover also being in the form of an inner frame with an appropriate filling material e.g. concrete. The object of the invention is to enhance the appearance of the upper edges of the inner and outer frames. In accordance with the invention, this is achieved by providing the upper edges as decorative strips which are positively fixed to the upper edges of the frame members by a tongue and groove joint. Preferably, the groove (21) is formed with at least one splayed-out wall (20) which is pressed into longitudinal engagement with a corresponding wall of the tongue (22), e.g. by traversing the wall with a pressure roller. An insulating layer can be provided to prevent any chemical reaction where the frames and strips are of dissimilar metals.
