A method and system for determining billing information related to use of a network. For a data transmission path between a pair of nodes locations, the price for the transmission depends, inter alia, on the amount of data transported and the price of using the path of the network. The method collects traffic data for data sent over paths of network, creates a virtual path, which is a combination of one or more paths of network, selects a set of paths connecting each pair of node locations, and determines a price for the virtual path used to transport data between node locations. The determined cost of transporting data between node locations is then apportioned among the users of the network that transported the data.

Le procédé consiste à collecter des données de trafic (32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 40, 42) pour des données envoyées par un ou plusieurs chemins (12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22) du réseau (10), à créer un chemin virtuel (9), qui est une combinaison d'un ou plusieurs des chemins (12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22) du réseau (10), à choisir un prix déterminé pour le chemin virtuel (9) utilisé pour transporter les données entre les localisations des noeuds (A, B, C, D), et enfin à déterminer le coût du transport des données entre ces localisations de noeuds (A, B, C, D) fondé sur le volume du trafic et sur le prix déterminé.
