ABSTRACT This invention provides a roller conveyor having driven rollers by which articles can be moved in an uninterrupted flow along the conveyor but is provided with means by which drive may be removed from rollers that are not able to rotate as they should. The means includes a sensing roller that will normally be driven by a roller lying downstream of it, but will be driven alternatively by a roller upstream of it unless resist- ance to rotation of the sensing roller becomes excessive when the sensing roller will cease to rotate and thereby disconnect the drive to the upstream roller.
