A method is provided for metering a liquid sterilant from a reservoir or other container into a vaporization system, in accu- rately and reproducibly measured amounts. The method includes the steps of delivering the liquid sterilant from the container in- to an accumulator, at a first delivery pressure and a first delivery rate, discontinuing the dispensing of liquid sterilant when a predetermined amount of sterilant has been transferred from the container into the accumulator, and delivering liquid sterilant from the accumulator into the vaporizer, at a second delivery pressure and a second delivery rate. The first delivery pressure and first delivery rate are preferably lower than the second delivery pressure and second delivery rate.
