ABSTRACT 12 The present invention relates to an acetabulum cutter that serves in particular to shape the acetabulum of the human pelvic bone preparatory to the implantation of an artificial hip joint socket. The proposed acetabulum cutter comprises a cutting head attached to a shaft and one or more cutting ridges which, being fitted with cutting elements, wind helically around the shaft axis. The outer face of the cutting ridge is bounded by a section of a spherical surface, whose axis of rotation aligns with the shaft axis.
