Abstract of the Disclosure A composition for and method of dispersing particles of hydraulic cement in a slurry of hydraulic cement in water, wherein the composition is the reaction product of a ketone, an aldehyde, a cyanide and, optionally, a sulfite. The dispersant properties of the composition can be enhanced by further reacting the composition with hydroxide.
