Methods are provided to make acid functional fluoropolymers by: a) dehydrofluorinating a starting fluoropolymer with a dehydrofluorinating agent to form an unsaturated fluoropolymer; b) adding an acidifiable nucleophilic functionalizing agent to a double bond of the unsaturated fluoropolymer; and c) acidifying the added acidifiable function. Acid functional fluoropolymers and ion conducting membranes thereof are also provided, including acid functional fluoropolymer having pendent groups according to the formula: -X-Ar- An, wherein X is selected from O, S or NR, where R is selected from H and C1- C30 alkyl or aryl, which are optionally substituted, wherein Ar is a C6-C30 aromatic group, which is optionally substituted, wherein A is an acidic function or salt thereof, wherein n can be independently chosen to be 1, 2 or 3.
L'invention concerne des procédés d'obtention de fluoropolymères à fonction acide consistant à: a) déshydrofluorer un fluoropolymère de départ avec un agent de déshydrofluoration de manière à obtenir un fluoropolymère insaturé; b) à ajouter un agent de fonctionalisation nucléophile acidifiable à une double liaison de fluoropolymère insaturé; et c) à acidifier la fonction acidifiable ajoutée. Les fluoropolymères à fonction acide et leurs membranes de passage d'ions font aussi l'objet de cette invention, notamment les fluoropolymères à fonction acide présentant des groupes pendants de formule -X-Ar-A¿n?, dans laquelle X est sélectionné dans O, S ou NR, où R est sélectionné dans H et alkyle ou aryle C1-C30, éventuellement substitué, Ar désigne un groupe aromatique C6-C30 éventuellement substitué et A désigne une fonction acide ou son sel, n pouvant être égal à 1, 2 ou 3.
