08-21-1223 ACID HALIDE AND ACYLLACTAM FUNCTIONAL MATERIALS ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Acid halide and acyllactam functional materials, which are useful in the preparation of nylon block polymers, selected from the group consisting of those of the formulae: Image and Image wherein, A is X or Q; X is halogen; Q is Image , with Y = C3-C11 alkylene; a is an integer equal to 1, 2 or 3; b is an integer equal to 2 or more; R is a di- or poly- valent group selected from hydrocarbon groups and hydrocarbon groups containing ether linkages; and Z is a segment of: (1) a polyether having a minimum molecular weight of 2,000; or (2) a polyester containing polyether segment having minimum molecular weights of about 2,000. Also covered are materials wherein Z is a segment of either a hydrocarbon or a polysiloxane.
