ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Cationic, anionic and amphoteric polymers suitable for the preparation of acid viscosifier compositions and the acid viscosified compositions are provided. The polymers are water soluble or water dispersible and are based on acrylyl monomers having the stated ionic charge.
