ACIDIC OLEO-ACRYLIC RESINS AND PROCESSES FOR PREPARING SAME ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Disclosed are acidic resins formed by reacting (I) at least one poly-unsaturated monocarboxylic fatty acid con- taining 9 to 20 carbon atoms and more than one olefinic double bond (C=C), or an ester of said acid with a polyvalent alcohol or a mixture of said acids and esters; and (II) an .alpha.,.beta.-unsaturated monocarboxylic acid of the formula: Image wherein X, Y are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and alkyl groups having from 1 to 3 carbon atoms, Z is hydrogen or methyl group. These resins which are useful in the production of paints and varnishes are of an acidic nature and contain component (II) in the combined state, in an amount ranging from 5 to 25% by weight.
