An intake system for an internal combustion engine is disclosed having an intake air duct for transferring intake air to the engine. The inlet air duct has a quarter-wave acoustical tuner in operable communication with the intake air flow to attenuate sound frequencies in the duct. The quarter-wave tuner has a first, opened end which communicates with the air flow, a tubular body and a second end which is closed by a moveable diaphragm. The diaphragm is moveable under the force of a sound wave traversing the tuner and is operable to extend the attenuation range of the tuner.
