An active respiratory therapeutic device for clearing breathing passages, loosening and breaking up mucus plugs and phlegm in a patient's sinuses, trachea, bronchial passages and lungs while a patient is breathing normally through the device is disclosed. The apparatus preferably includes a C shaped curved hollow housing having a closed end portion and an open threaded end portion. The open end portion forms at least part of an acoustic coupling chamber. A generally funnel shaped tapered mouthpiece tapers to a small end portion sized to be inserted into a patient's mouth. The mouthpiece forms another part of the acoustic coupling chamber. An acoustic signal generator housed within the hollow housing generates and directs acoustic vibrations into and through the coupling chamber. The mouthpiece preferably includes a valve permitting a patient breathing through the mouthpiece to inhale through a valve opening and exhale through a bypass passage around the valve while at the same time coupling the acoustic coupling chamber into the patient's airways.
La présente invention concerne un dispositif thérapeutique respiratoire actif destiné à dégager les voies respiratoires, en décollant et désagrégeant les bouchons de mucus et les mucosités se trouvant dans les sinus, la trachée, les bronches et les poumons d~un patient alors qu~il respire normalement par le dispositif. L~appareil comprend de préférence un logement creux courbé en C comprenant une partie d~extrémité fermée et une partie d~extrémité filetée ouverte. La partie d~extrémité ouverte fait au moins partie d~une chambre de couplage acoustique. Un embout buccal fuselé généralement en forme d~entonnoir s~amincit vers une petite partie d~extrémité dimensionnée pour être insérée dans la bouche d~un patient. L~embout buccal forme une autre partie de ladite chambre. Un générateur de signaux acoustiques logé dans le logement creux génère des vibrations acoustiques et les dirige vers et à travers la chambre de couplage. L~embout buccal comprend de préférence une valve permettant qu~un patient respirant par celui-ci inhale à travers une ouverture de valve et exhale à travers un passage dérivé autour de la valve tout en couplant en même temps ladite chambre dans les voies aériennes du patient.
