A touch position sensor or "touchscreen" (16) utilizes acoustic waves within a sensor substrate (32) to determine the position of touch. The substrate (32) is made of a transparent material, such as borosilicate or barium glass, which exhibits substantially less acoustic absorbtion than soda-lime glass.
