An apparatus, system and method for improving air entrainment and sound attenuation of gases being discharged from one or more outlet portions of an exhausting device using an acoustic wind band. The acoustical wind band helps improve entrainment of ambient environmental air with the exhaust gases being discharged from the exhausting device resulting in a tight plume of high velocity flow which improves the effective stack height of the exhausting device. This is achieved by positioning the sections of the acoustical wind band in spaced relation thus forming passages that allow outside ambient environmental air to flow into the acoustical wind band to mix with and dilute the exhausting gas. The sections may also be positioned extending upward and inward at an angle to further enhance the entrainment of ambient environmental air with the flow of exhaust gas from the gas exhaust device. The acoustical wind band also helps to block noise, especially line of sight noise, from the outlet of the exhausting device thereby improving sound attenuation. This may be achieved by having at least a portion of the bottom end of a lowest most section extend into the horizontal plane defined by the line of sight and having at least a portion of the top end and the bottom end of adjacent sections be coplanar, or preferably overlap, one another to block noise generated by the exhaust device or exhaust gas at the discharge from directly exiting the wind band. In addition, the acoustical wind band helps to protect the vena contracta produced by the converging flow (plume)of exhaust gas from environmental conditions, such as for example, wind shear.
Un appareil, un système et une méthode pour améliorer l'entraînement d'air et la réduction du bruit des gaz libérés d'au moins une partie de sortie d'un dispositif d'évacuation à l'aide d'une virole d'aérage acoustique. La virole d'aérage acoustique aide à améliorer l'entraînement de l'air ambiant avec la libération des gaz d'échappement du dispositif d'évacuation qui entraîne un panache serré du flux à grande vitesse qui améliore la hauteur de la pile efficace du dispositif d'évacuation. Pour y arriver, il faut positionner les sections de la virole d'aérage acoustique espacées formant des passages qui permettent à l'air ambiant extérieur de pénétrer dans la virole d'aérage acoustique afin de se mélanger au gaz d'échappement et de le diluer. Les sections peuvent également être positionnées de manière à s'étendre vers le haut et vers l'intérieur à un angle pour mieux améliorer l'entraînement de l'air ambiant avec le flux de gaz d'échappement du dispositif d'évacuation des gaz. La virole d'aérage acoustique aide également à étouffer le bruit, surtout le bruit à portée optique, de la sortie du dispositif d'évacuation, améliorant ainsi la réduction du bruit. Pour y arriver, il faut avoir au moins une partie du bout inférieur d'une section la plus basse qui s'étend dans le plan horizontal défini par la visibilité directe et qu'au moins une partie du bout supérieur et du bout inférieur des sections attenantes soit coplanaire, ou de préférence il y a un chevauchement pour étouffer le bruit produit par le dispositif d'évacuation ou le gaz d'échappement en sortant directement de la virole d'aérage. De plus, la virole d'aérage acoustique aide à protéger la section contractée produite par le flux croisé (panache) du gaz d'échappement des conditions environnementales, par exemple, le cisaillement du vent.
