Methods and apparatus are provided for acoustically insulating a washing machine (10) and, specifically, a laundry tub (14). An acoustical blanket (40) of thermoplastic material extends around and insulates the laundry tub. A wall (28) of the tub has at least one protuberance (32) for mating with a hole (34) of the acoustical blanket. The acoustical blanket (51) may be crimped over a top (53) of the wall. Protuberances include knobs and elongate members (56, 58). The thermoplastic material is selected from a group consisting of a polyester, polyethylene, polyolefin, polypropylene, polyethylene terephthalate, rayon, nylon, acrylic, hemp, kenaf, cotton and combinations thereof. A facing layer(s) (104) may additionally be provided on the acoustical blanket. The facing layer being selected from a group consisting of polyester, rayon, metallic foil and combinations thereof. The blanket may also mate directly with a cylinder around the tub.
L'invention porte sur des procédés et appareils d'isolation acoustique de machines à laver (10), et spécialement sur une machine (14) à tambour vertical. A cet effet on dispose une couverture isolante (40) faite d'un matériau thermoplastique autour du tambour qui comporte au moins une protubérance (32) correspondant à un trou (34) pratiqué dans la couverture. Ladite couverture peut également être sertie sur le sommet (53) de la paroi du tambour. Les protubérances peuvent être des boutons ou des éléments allongés (56, 58). Le matériau thermoplastique est choisi parmi: un polyester, du polyéthylène, une polyoléfine, du polypropylène, du téréphthalate de polyéthylène, de la rayonne, du Nylon, une résine acrylique, du chanvre, du kénaf, du coton, et leurs combinaisons. On peut également prévoir une ou des couches (104) extérieures entourant la couverture pouvant être faites de polyester, de rayonne, de tôle métallique ou de leurs combinaisons. La couverture peut être directement appariée à un cylindre entourant le tambour.
