ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: The instant invention is directed to a process for preparing acrylic acid and methyacrylic acid polymer. This process comprises polymerizing acrylic acid in a polymerization zone in carbon dioxide in the presence of a catalyst. The reaction is advantageously carried out at a temperature and pressure at which the carbon dioxide is in a supercritical state.
