ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method is provided for forming an acrylic caulking or sealing composition with improved adhesion, the silane-free composition containing an acrylic emulsion copolymer binder with a glass transition temperature from about 0 C. to about -60 C., wherein the improvement includes admixing with the binder zinc oxide in an amount of from about 0.5% to about 5%, by dry weight based on dry copolymer binder weight, and solid silica in an amount of from about 0.5% to about 10%, by dry weight based on dry copolymer binder weight.
