ACRYLIC ELASTOMER-BASED POLYMER COMPOSITIONS WITH HIGH FLAME RESISTANCE ABSTRACT Acrylic elastomer-based polymer compositions characterised by flame retardation and low fume emission are obtained by adding organic or inorganic melamine salts such as melamine cyanurate and melamine phosphate, used singularly or mixed together. These formulations are compatible with the other additives usually used in acrylic rubbers. The flame retardant additives used are effective at low levels of addition, so that the resultant flame resistant elastomer formulations, which are of low fume emission, maintain the main basic elastomer properties, which represent an optimum compromise between elastic properties, mechanical properties and oil resistance under severe service conditions.
