The present invention comprises the use, in a method for the manufacture of a paper-coating slip, as a thickener for said slip, of a water-soluble polymer comprising at least one ethylenically unsaturated anionic monomer, and at least one ethylenically unsaturated oxyalkylated monomer terminated with a branched, hydrophobic alkyl, alkylaryl, arylalkyl or aryl chain containing from 14 to 24 carbon atoms and having 2 branches containing at least 6 carbon atoms. The water retention of said slip is thus improved, thereby contributing to better printability of the paper coated with said slip.
L'invention consiste en Futilisation, dans un procede de fabrication d'une sauce de couchage papetiere, comme agent epaississant de ladite sauce, d'un polymere hydrosoluble constitue d'au moins un monomere anionique a insaturation ethylenique, et d'au moins un monomere oxyalkyle a insaturation ethylenique et termine par une chaîne hydrophobe ramifiée alkyle, alkylaryle, arylalkyle, aryle ayant de 14 a 24 atomes de carbone et possedant 2 ramifications ayant au moins 6 atomes de carbone. On ameliore ainsi la retention d'eau de ladite sauce, ce qui contribue a une meilleure imprimabilite du papier couche par ladite sauce.
