- 12 - ABSTRACT A multiple axle system for a trailer has a plurality of axles on each side of the vehicle, each pivotally connected to a hanger on the frame of the vehicle for pivotal movement about a longitudinal, horizontal axis. Each axle is connected to a leaf spring that is in turn supported at its opposite ends in spring supports. The spring supports include at least one slipper spring support at one of each spring, allowing the spring to move freely longitudinally of the vehicle. The other end of the spring is preferably connected to the spring support through an eye and pin. The axles are entirely independent in operation so as to provide a smooth ride, reduced stress on the trailer frame and consequently less likelihood that the frame will be bent or broken.
