29,865 IMPROVED ACTIVATED CARBON FIBERS AND YARNS ABSTRACT An activated carbon material coated with a polymeric fluorocarbon is disclosed. The coated activated carbon material comprises an activated carbon material treated with an aqueous dispersion of polymeric fluorocarbon resin particles. A process for producing an abrasion resistant activated carbon material is also disclosed. The process comprises immersing or dipping an activated carbon material in, or spraying an activated carbon material with an aqueous dispersion of polymeric fluorocarbon resin particles, and then drying the material. Additionally disclosed is an activated carbon yarn comprising a plurality of carbon containing yarns, intertwined together to produce a multi-fold yarn, and then subjected to an activated process, and then treated with an aqueous dispersion of polymeric fluoro- carbon resin particles.
