L'invention propose un composite actif utilisable comme milieu réactionnel dans un procédé de mise en oeuvre soit de réactions du type gaz-solide, soit d'adsorption gaz-solide, soit enfin de transformation catalytique d'un gaz. Ce composite actif est constitué d'un support comprimé et d'au moins un agent actif vis-à-vis d'un gaz. Le support comprimé comprend du graphite expansé recomprimé ayant une densité comprise entre 0,02 et 1,5 et est formé d'une série de feuilles superposées les unes sur les autres. Selon l'invention l'agent actif est dispersé entre les feuilles sous forme de granules.
