Abstract of the Disclosure Circuit for a terminating set for a transition between two-wire and four-wire lines includes an assembly of two monolithic integrated differential amplifiers serving as operational amplifiers, each having an inverted input and a non-inverted input, and a preceding voltage divider connected to each of the inverted inputs. Audio voltage are fed to each of the non-inverted inputs, the voltage dividers, respectively, having resis- tances of equal value. Matching impedances are operatively associated with a respective input and output of the four-wire side, the matching impedance and a balancing impedance of the characteristic impedance of the two-wire side with respect to given input impedances to the terminating set being of such size that transmission loss in the terminating set is zero in both directions. One of the amplifiers is operable for effecting phase reversal of an a-c voltage fed to the terminating set from the four-wire side so as to obtain a high isolation or attenuation for the terminating set, whereby a circuit for an asymmetric terminating set is formed. A symmetrical set may be obtained by an essence combining two of the asymmetrical sets described above.
