The present invention concerns novel methods of selecting or matching a sport or sporting event to an individual (e.g. a sprint/power sport or an endurance sport) and predicting athletic performance, the methods involving assessing ACTN3 genotype. In alternative embodiments, training regimens may be optimally designed for athletes by assessing the ACTN3 genotypes. Certain embodiments concern combining the assessment of the ACTN3 genotype with other known fitness-related genes to better assess the athletic potential of an individual. In addition, the genotypic analysis of the ACTN3 gene may be combined with physiological tests, physical measurements and/or psychological assessments to more optimally design a training regimen for an individual athlete.
La présente invention concerne de nouvelles méthodes de sélection ou de mise en correspondance d'un sport ou d'un évènement sportif avec un individu (par exemple un sport de course/puissance ou un sport d'endurance), et de prédiction de performance athlétique, lesdites méthodes consistant à évaluer le génotype ACTN3. Dans d'autres modes de réalisation, des programmes d'entraînement peuvent être conçus de manière optimale pour les athlètes par évaluation des génotypes ACTN3. Certains modes de réalisation combinent l'évaluation du génotype ACTN3 avec d'autres gènes connus associés à une bonne condition physique afin de mieux évaluer le potentiel athlétique d'un individu. De plus, l'analyse génotypique du gène ACTN3 peut être combinée avec des tests physiologiques, des mesures physiques et/ou des évaluations psychologiques afin de mettre au point de manière plus optimale un programme d'entraînement pour un athlète individuel.
