ABSTRACT: An actuating device for lifting and lowering the landing lever which carries the magnetic-head assembly of the drive mechanism of a magnetic-disk storage apparatus, whose front opening for the insertion of a flexible disk- ette can be closed by means of a pivotal front cover. A simple construction of such an actuating device, specific- ally for mechanism with a small mounting height, is ob- tained when the landing lever is associated with a later- ally projecting cross-arm, which is supported by a sup- porting plate which extends parallel to the landing lever. Via a guide lever the supporting plate is moved twords the diskette by a rod against a spring force as soon as the front cover is closed. The travel of the rod is then small so that it is not moved until the last stage of the closing movement of the front cover. This precludes an inadvertent displacement of the supporting plate.
