An actuator structure in which the arms (3d) which support the magnetic heads (3a) are of sheet material in back- to-back pairs having ends fitted into and clamped between the confronting faces of pads (5a, 5b) arranged in columns on an actuator body (5d). The pads (5a, 5b) in each column are cantilevered from the body (5d) on deflectable supports (5c), except for one rigid support (5c) substantially centrally positioned in each column (5a, 5b). A bolt (5e) extending through axially aligned holes in the pads (5a, 5b) and the arms (3d) in each column (5a, 5b) applies pressure to deflect the pad supports (5c) and clamp the arms between the pads (5a, 5b).
