The invention relates to an actuator comprising a coil support that can be displaced in a magnetoconductive housing by magnetic loading on a magnetic cylinder having a sequence of permanent magnets and pole disks. The invention is characterized in that the dimensions of the permanent magnet (16) and the pole disk (17) are adapted to each other in such a manner that the front cross- sectional surface of the permanent magnet (16) corresponds to at least the peripheral surface of an adjacent pole disk (17) and that the width of the coil (23) associated with the pole disk (17) is greater than the width of the pole disk (17) by the stroke amplitude of the coil support (19). The coil support (19) is movable in a fluidic medium and the width of the air gap (24) between the coil support (19) and the magnetic cylinder tube (15) enclosing the permanent magnet (16) and the associated pole disk (17) is maximally wide enough for a laminar lubricant film to form between the parts (15, 19) without displacing the surrounding fluid.
