ABSTRACT This invention is concerned with the manufacture of an acyl deri- vative of the general formula Image , wherein X represents the 1,2,5,6-tetrahydro-2-methyl-5,6-dioxo-as-triazin- 3-yl group, or the corresponding tautomeric form thereof, the 2,5-dihydro-6- hydroxy-2-methyl-5-oxo-as-triazin-3-yl group as well as readily hydrolysable ester/ethers and pharmaceutically acceptable salts of this compound and hydrates of the compound of formula I and of its esters/ethers and salts. The invention is also concerned with pharmaceutical preparations having antibiotic activity containing the aforementioned acyl derivative for the treatment or prophylaxis of diseases, especially of infectious diseases. Again, the invention is concerned with novel starting materials useful in the afore- mentioned process.
