Abstract of the Disclosure The invention relates to new epoxy-androstanes of the general formu- 1a I Image (I) wherein X is halogen, Z1 and Z2 are both hydrogen, or Z1is hydroxy and Z2 is chlorine, or Z1 and Z2 together stand for an .alpha.-epoxy group, as well as to a process for the preparation thereof. The new compounds of the general formu- 1a I are valuable intermediate products in the synthesis of new steroid com- pound having curare-like activity. The compounds of formula I are prepared by a synthesis involving several steps starting with a compound of formula V Image (V) wherein R1 and R2 are both hydrogen or both hydroxy and hydrazine.
