N-acylated orgotein wherein the acyl radical is of a mono- or dibasic hydrocarbon carboxylic acid of up to 8 carbon atoms, e.g. acetyl or succinyl and processes for its preparation are provided herein. Such product, while possessing substantially less SODase activity than the native protein, possesses anti-inflammatory activity comparable to that of orgotein.
