CA 2045568

2045568 9008430 PCTABS00001 Second order sigma-delta sections are cascaded to form high order A/D converters suitable for CMOS realisation. Compared to the cascade of first order sigma-delta sections approach, the new structure requires less comparators and less complex digital circuits. The structure is also less sensitive to low frequency amplifier noise, which is important at 16-bit resolution level. A fourth-order integration noise shaping sigma-delta A/D converter front end is disclosed capable of achieving 16-bit resolution and converting up to 64kHz baseband signals.
