An apparatus engageable with a railway vehicle truck-mounted braking system compensating for truck bolster movement which includes at least one force transmitting wedge member (50) movable in a reciprocating motion by a pneuma actuator (70). The at least one force transmitting wedge member engage rolle rotateably attached to a return push rod member (32) disposed within the truck- mounted braking system for extending the return push rod member to red brake shoe clearance prior to brake shoe application. A method for compensat for truck bolster movement also includes fully pressurizing a wedge actuator (40) prior to pressurizing the main brake apparatus actuator (20). Depressurization of the system returns the force transmitting wedges (50) an return push rod to their original positions upon completion of brake application, subsequently increasing brake shoe clearance for allowable truc bolster movement.

L'invention concerne un appareil pouvant entrer en prise dans un système de freinage monté sur un chariot destiné à compenser le mouvement de traverse du chariot qui comprend au moins un élément (50) poussoir transmettent une force qui peut se déplacer dans un mouvement réciproque par un activateur (70) pneumatique. Ledit élément entre en prise avec des rouleaux fixés de manière rotative à élément une tige-poussoir à retour (32) disposé à l'intérieur du système de freinage, ce qui permet d'allonger l'élément tige-poussoir à retour de manière à réduire l'espace mort de la pédale de frein avant d'appliquer le freinage. L'invention concerne un procédé pour compenser le mouvement de traverse du chariot comprenant une pressurisation complète d'un activateur à poussoir (40) avant la pressurisation de l'activateur (20) de l'appareil du frein principal. La dépressurisation du système renvoie les poussoirs (50) transmettant la force et la tige poussoir à retour dans leur position originale, à la fin du freinage, tout en améliorant sensiblement l'espace mort du freinage pour un mouvement de traverse du chariot.
