When the brakes are released, values are determined from these model values and the actually backfed air volume during brake release. The pilot control pressure for a relay valve can be increased by these values in order to release the brakes more rapidly. The train model determines by an adaptive learning method at the end of a brake releasing process values for the volume of the main air pipe and the R-containers of the train, so that the train model adapts itself to the actually existing train.
