A method for determining an arterial blood oxygen saturation level according to this invention includes measuring the light transmittance through tissue of light of a first wavelength, and a second wavelength (20). A steady-state component of the measured light transmission is used to select an appropriate calibration curve (30). A pulsatile component of the measured light transmission is used to determine the arterial blood oxygen saturation level using the selected calibration curve (40). An oximetry system is also provided.

L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de déterminer un niveau de saturation en oxygène du sang artériel consistant à mesurer le facteur de transmission de lumière à travers des tissus de lumière de première et seconde longueurs d'ondes (20). Un composant d'état permanent de la transmission de la lumière mesurée est utilisé pour sélectionner une courbe d'étalonnage appropriée (30). Un composant pulsatile de la transmission de lumière mesurée est utilisé pour déterminer le niveau de saturation en oxygène du sang artériel au moyen de la courbe d'étalonnage sélectionnée (40). Cette invention concerne également un système d'oximétrie.
