An object of this invention is to provide an adaptive filter capable of reducing a convergence time and residual error even when there exists an interval having a small input signal power for a long time, and an adapting method thereof. The adaptive filter comprises a signal power monitoring circuit for receiving an input signal and outputs of delay elements and outputting a first stop signal for stopping tap position control and a second stop signal for stopping coefficient updating and a coefficient updating control circuit for receiving the second stop signal and an error signal outputted by a subtracter and outputting the error signal or zero to coefficient generating circuits as an updating signal. The signal power monitoring circuit calculates a sum of powers of all or part of signals of the delay elements, so that if the power sum is smaller than a first threshold, it turns on the first stop signal to stop the tap position control and if the sum is smaller than a second threshold, turns on the second signal to stop the coefficient updating.
L'invention concerne une méthode d'adaptation et porte sur un filtre adaptatif capable de réduire le temps de convergence et l'erreur résiduelle même lorsqu'il existe un intervalle ayant une faible puissance du signal d'entrée pour un long moment. Le filtre adaptatif est composé d'un circuit de surveillance de la puissance du signal recevant un signal d'entrée et les sorties des circuits à retard et produisant un premier signal d'arrêt qui met fin à la commande de positionnement de la prise et un second signal d'arrêt qui met fin à la mise à jour du coefficient. Il comprend également un circuit de surveillance de la mise à jour du coefficient qui reçoit le second signal d'arrêt et un signal d'erreur généré par un soustracteur et qui produit le signal d'erreur ou un zéro, pour les circuits de production du coefficient, comme un signal de mise à jour. Le circuit de surveillance de la puissance du signal calcule une somme de puissance pour tous les signaux des circuits à retard, ou une partie de ceux-là, de sorte que si le total de la puissance est inférieur à un premier seuil, il active le premier signal d'arrêt pour mettre fin à la commande de positionnement de la prise. Toutefois, si la somme est inférieure à un second seuil, le circuit de surveillance active le second signal pour mettre fin à la mise à jour du coefficient.
