In an adaptive filter having a delay circuit wherein amplitude control circuits are comprised in taps of that delay circuit which are controlled by means of an error signal which indicates the difference between an out- put signal of the filter and an output signal which has been brought in a desired waveform by a threshold circuit of the filter, a clamping control circuit is used which utilizes the integrated error signal as the control signal for matching the level of the output signal to a threshold level of the threshold circuit so that unwanted direct currents do not affect the amplitude control circuits. .
