A generic structure of Hybrid ARQ using Turbo Codes is provided which requires the function of channel coding, redundancy selection, buffering and maximum-ratio diversity combining, channel decoding, error detection, and sending back an acknowledgement to the transmitter (Fig.3). The functions of channel coding and redundancy selection (Fig.1) are performed at the transmitter while the remaining functions are performed at the receiver. The initial code rate can be explicitly communicated to the receiver or blindly detected.

L'invention concerne une structure générique de système à demande automatique de répétition utilisant des turbo-codes, qui requiert les fonctions de codage de canaux, la sélection de redondance, la mise en mémoire tampon, la combinaison en diversité à rapport maximal, le décodage de canaux, la détection d'erreur et le renvoi d'un accusé de réception à l'émetteur (fig. 3). Les fonctions de codage de canaux et de sélection de redondance (fig. 1) sont exécutées au niveau de l'émetteur et les fonctions restantes au niveau du récepteur. Le débit de codage initial peut être explicitement communiqué au récepteur ou détecté à l'aveugle.
