An inertial particle separation system for a gas turbine engine (14) is provided. The inertial particle separation system for a gas turbine engine (14) includes an inlet (16) of the gas turbine engine, an inflatable boot coupled to a surface (34) defining a flow path through the inlet, the boot including a plurality of fluid exit slots (56) configured to facilitate clean air to adhere to a flow path surface downstream from the boot (50), and means for causing the boot to be deployed.
